My designs begin long before the components reach my workbench. They begin in the search for an unusual stone, a beautifully aged piece of metal, a strand of bone beads, vintage glass, an unexpected shape, or a component found halfway around the world.

My eye for materials has been shaped by years of travel through more than 25 countries—by the colors, textures, architecture, markets, and craftsmanship I've encountered along the way. Those experiences continue to influence what catches my attention and the unexpected materials I imagine together.

Some materials are new. Some have been waiting decades for another life. Some come from the natural world, while others were shaped by someone else's hands. I choose each for its texture, character, and possibility.

At my workbench, those disparate pieces connect. These materials may never have been intended to meet, but somehow they belong.
